Seattle gives final approval for new Storm practice facility

Mayor Jenny Durkan is asking the City Council to approve a special zoning  change that would allow the construction of indoor recreational centers of up to 50,000 square feet on properties in an industrial zone that meet certain conditions. The change that would allow the Seattle Storm to build a practice center in Interbay on property owned by one of the Storm’s owners.  The property in question is currently a storage lot, at 1616 W Bertona St. 218315

Mayor Jenny Durkan signed legislation on Tuesday that allows indoor recreation facilities to be as large as 50,000 square feet, replacing a previous restriction that capped such structures at 10,000 square feet.
