Less than a week from National Signing Day, Washington State has picked up a verbal commitment from three-star safety Tyrese Ross.

Ross is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., played his final two years of high school football at Westlake High in Atlanta.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound safety committed to WSU on Friday over a list of offers that included Mississippi State, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Pitt and West Virginia.

Ross is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com. WSU signed three defensive backs as part of the early signing period in December, and Ross is one of two more defensive backs currently committed to WSU as part of the 2018 recruiting class.

Ross was recruited by new WSU defensive coach Darcel McBath, who helped Alex Grinch coach defensive backs last season as a defensive analyst, but was promoted this offseason and hired as WSU’s 10th assistant coach.
