It’s not Groundhog Day. The Cougars are back in the Holiday Bowl, and they can only hope it goes smoother than last year’s uninspiring loss to a Minnesota team that had suspended nearly a dozen players prior to the game.

Michigan State is facing no such adversity. Instead, the Cougars will be trying to avenge last year’s Holiday Bowl loss without their top two receivers. Isaiah Johnson-Mack announced he was transferring from the program, and Tavares Martin Jr. was dismissed after the Apple Cup. To make matters worse, we learned soon before kickoff quarterback Luke Falk would not suit up because of a wrist injury, effectively ending his career at Washington State.

Mark Dantonio turned a three-win Spartan team last season into a three-loss one this year, flipping last year’s disappointing season on its head. A win over the Cougars would be Dantonio’s 100th of his 11-year career at Michigan State.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on FS1 and 710 AM. You can stream the game with Fox Sports Go.
