Washington softball standout Alexis DeBoer was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
The award was the second of the season for DeBoer, who was named Big Ten Player of the Week earlier in the season.
In a series with Penn State, DeBoer posted a .500 average with two home runs, two doubles and three RBI.
• Western Washington (40-10) was announced as the No. 4 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Division II softball tournament.
The Vikings will face No. 5 Concordia University Irvine at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in Hayward, Calif.

• UW’s game against visiting Warner Pacific was suspended in the top of the seventh inning due to a stadium light failure. No makeup information was announced.
• WSU’s Nick Lewis was named the Mountain West Pitcher and Freshman of the Week.
