Washington wide receiver Brayden Lenius has been suspended for the first three games of the season for an unspecified violation of team rules, coach Chris Petersen announced Monday.

“Brayden Lenius will not make a contribution the first three games. He is suspended for the first three games,” Petersen said. “We’ll see where he goes from there after those first three games.”

Lenius, a 6-foot-5, 231-pound junior from North Vancouver, B.C., was a six-game starter for the Huskies in 2015.

Lenius sat out spring ball while recovering from an injury and was still getting up to speed during fall camp this month.

“It’s been tough. Obviously, you guys are seeing it out there,” first-year receivers coach Bush Hamdan said earlier this month. “He’s got some things with his body right now and it’s a little bit tough to evaluate him. So we’ve got to get him as healthy as possible and get him playing back to where his speed was.”
