The rift between the Huskies and ESPN continued this week, as the broadcaster assigned to this week's game tweeted the 'Huskies got their feelings hurt'.

ESPN will broadcast Saturday’s UW-Utah game beginning at 7:30 p.m., and the ESPN broadcast team that night is Mark Jones, Rod Gilmore and Quint Kessenich.

The last time that crew was at Husky Stadium was for the Oct. 7 broadcast of the UW-Cal game, during which Kessenich rankled many here by using three cupcakes to represent the Huskies’ three nonconference opponents. Later in the broadcast, Jones called Chris Petersen “irascible and somewhat cantankerous” because Petersen declined to do a sitdown interview with that crew.

He continued to pester Husky fans on Twitter, posting multiple tweets about UW’s loss to Stanford, saying “Huskies got their feelings hurt when I tried to tell em weeks ago.”

UW athletic director Jennifer Cohen told The Times that she was “extremely disappointed” in the tone of that ESPN broadcast. A few days after the broadcast, Cohen says she got a call from Peter Derzis, ESPN’s senior vice president of college sports programming and events, who apologized and assured her that it wouldn’t happen again.
