Last season Jaylen Nowell led the Huskies with a team-high 16.0 points and also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
Washington sophomore Jaylen Nowell is the only Pac-12 player chosen to the 20-player preseason watch list for the Jerry West Award, an Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame honor that recognizes the nation’s best shooting guard.
Last season, Nowell led the Huskies with 16.0 points a game while starting 32 of 34 games. He finished with 545 points and is ranked fourth on the UW freshman record list behind Markelle Fultz (579) in 2017, Dejounte Murray (548) in 2016 and Tony Wroten (559) in 2012.
Nowell, who also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists, was chosen to the Pac-12 all-freshmen team.
By mid-February, the Jerry West Award watch list will be narrowed to 10 players and pared to five in March.
The winner will be announced at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show on April 12, 2019, along with the other four members of the Naismith starting five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy Point Guard Award, the Julius Erving Small Forward Award, the Karl Malone Power Forward Award and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center Award.
