USA Basketball (4-0) will play host Canada (4-0) in the 2015 Pan American Games women’s basketball gold medal matchup Monday. The game tips from Toronto at 5:45 p.m. PDT and will air live on ESPNU.

Held every four years, the Americans placed seventh in the 2011 Pan Am while Canada was sixth.

Washington star Kelsey Plum is a reserve guard on a roster that includes University of Connecticut forward Breanna Stewart and point guard Moriah Jefferson. Plum, who returned from right-knee surgery in order to make the team, scored seven points in 17 minutes during the USA’s 93-77 quarterfinal win against Puerto Rico on Saturday.

“Playing on such a talented team, when you sub in you’re going to fulfill your role to the best of your abilities,” Plum told reporters after the win against Puerto Rico. “It’s been really fun playing with some of the most talented players. You just get better every day. (Saturday) I had an opportunity to step up, but everyone has had that opportunity, and they’ve filled that role. So, it’s been awesome.”

The victory advanced the Americans to Sunday’s semifinal game against Cuba. USA Basketball needed two made free throws and a last-second steal from Kentucky guard Linnae Harper to advance, 65-64.

Canada advanced by routing Brazil, 91-63, in its Sunday semifinal. UCLA guard Nirra Fields led the Canadians with 15 points.

The host country’s best finish at a Pan Ams was a silver medal in 1999 in Winnipeg. The Americans have won gold seven of the 14 times its been awarded since the first Pan American Games for women in 1955.
