The start of October coincides with a crucial stretch of matches for the fifth-ranked Husky volleyball team, as UW is about to face four top-25 squads in a row, and six in its next seven matches.

The run begins in Los Angeles, as the Huskies (12-0) visit 11th-ranked UCLA (12-2, 1-1 Pac-12) on Friday at 8 p.m., followed by a showdown with undefeated and second-ranked USC on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.

Washington and USC (14-0) are two of five remaining unbeatens in the NCAA.

Jeff Evans, who has been in athletic communications at the professional and collegiate levels for over 15 years, the last nine with the Seattle Mariners, has been named sports information director at Western Washington. Evans, whose official starting date is Oct. 12, replaces Paul Madison, who retired after 48 years as SID at WWU.
