If you needed any more reason to look forward to the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, look no further. Tiger Woods — still considered golf’s biggest draw — announced Wednesday via Twitter that he will play in this year’s tournament in University Place.

Of Woods’ 14 major championship wins, three have been U.S. Opens, including his most recent win at Torrey Pines in 2008.

Though Woods’ announcement isn’t a surprise, it is significant considering he stepped away from competitive golf for nearly two months after dealing with injuries and poor play, saying at the time, “My play and scores are not acceptable for tournament golf.”

Woods returned in April at the Masters, at which he shot 5 under and finished tied for 17th place.
