Forward Ramu Tokashiki, a WNBA All-Rookie Team selection last season, has signed a multiyear contract with the Storm, the team announced Friday.

“Taku is a key building block for our future,” Storm coach Jenny Boucek said in a team statement. “Her combination of passion, athleticism, fearlessness and instinct for the game makes her a dynamic playmaker on both ends of the floor. The sky is the limit for Taku and we are extremely excited about her commitment to the Storm.”

The 6-foot-3 Tokashiki averaged 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game last season. The native of Japan scored a career-high 21 points June 28 at Tulsa.

“I had such a great experience in Seattle last season and am very excited and proud to be a part of Storm Basketball moving forward,” Tokashiki said in the statement. “I can’t wait to get back to Seattle to start working towards a championship!”

Tokashiki, 24, is playing overseas with JX-ENEOS, and she leads the team in scoring (18.5 points per game) and rebounding (8.8 per game).

The Storm opens the season May 15 at Los Angeles, and its home opener is May 22 vs. Minnesota.
