A day after it locked up guard Betty Lennox, the WNBA Finals MVP, the Seattle Storm signed three more players: center Janell Burse, former Connecticut Sun guard Adrienne Johnson and Australian guard Jessica Bibby.
Bibby had played for the Dandenong Rangers in Australia’s WNBL since 1996. The Rangers were WNBL champions for the second season in a row during their recent season, and Bibby, 25, was named the team’s most improved player. In 2000, Bibby suited up for the WNBA’s New York Liberty.
Johnson, 31, was assigned by the WNBA to the Cleveland Rockers in 1997 after a standout career at Ohio State. She was selected by the Orlando Miracle in the 1999 expansion draft. In 2003 she relocated with the Miracle to Connecticut, but she missed the 2004 season because of injury.
Burse, 25, was a restricted free agent re-signed by the Storm. She averaged 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 29 games in 2004.
Terms were not disclosed.
Seattle also announced it will play two exhibition games — at New York on May 7 and at home against the Sacramento Monarchs on May 14. Seattle opens the season at home May 21 against its Western Conference rival Los Angeles Sparks.
