The Sounders’ match Wednesday night against the Rapids in Colorado has been postponed because of inclement weather.

The clubs worked with MLS to reschedule the game for 6 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for the Denver area Wednesday. An estimated 2 inches of snow is expected to accumulate by the 6 p.m. game time.

The Sounders (4-0-1) will return home to prepare for a matchup against Toronto on Saturday at CenturyLink Field.

If there’s a positive to the postponed match against Colorado, it’s that the Sounders have time to heal from minor injuries. Coach Brian Schmetzer spoke Tuesday of utilizing different rotations against the Rapids to counter playing three games in a span of eight days.
