Sounders defender Roman Torres “appears to be through stage one” of his recovery from his season-ending ACL injury suffered back in September, Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey updated this week.

“Once you introduce gravity and pounding, now you see how the joint reacts,” Lagerwey said. “… Everything looks pretty good structurally. He has a foundation to go and get stronger. Now the question is, how does it progress?”

Torres was injured in the first half of Seattle’s Sept. 12 match at San Jose and underwent successful surgery less than two weeks later. The projected timetable for his return has shifted to a 9-to-12-month window, meaning anywhere from next July through October.
