Major League Soccer introduced on Tuesday elevated security standards at all 20 of the league’s stadiums, a new minimum bag policy and guest screening measures to go into effect for this weekend’s matches.

Under the new policy, fans will be “fully scanned” either by full pat-down or via electronic wand.

In addition, the following items are all now prohibited:

  • Large purses
  • Coolers
  • Briefcases
  • Backpacks
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Computer bags
  • Camera bags
  • Any bag larger than 14″x14″x6″

“Public safety is a top priority and the enhanced security measures will ensure that fans are able to continue to enjoy MLS and SUM events in a safe environment,” MLS president and deputy commissioner Mark Abbott said in the league release.
