Sounders and United States forward Clint Dempsey spoke prior to national team practice on Tuesday at Seattle University, addressing the sensation of returning to his club home for Thursday night’s Copa America quarterfinal against Ecuador.

“The environment makes it special, that passion for the game,” Dempsey said. “… 44,000 for every home game, that’s top 20 in the world.”

U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann offered similar sentiments.

“Seattle is a place where we know they’re going to be 1,000 percent behind us and push us,” Klinsmann said. “The experience that we had three years ago against Panama was fantastic. This is something the players realize. It’s really getting bigger and bigger.”
