Are you having trouble figuring out if the Seahawks, after a 2-0 start, are for real?
You’re not the only one.
Just look at what’s going on with those whose job it is to rank teams for a living: They don’t know what to do with the Seahawks, either.
The Seahawks check in as high as No. 7 (CBS Sports) and as low as No. 20 (USA Today).
Here’s what the “experts” have to say to help you make up your mind as you wait for the Dolphins to come to town:
ESPN: No. 10
The Seahawks’ RB2 is their RB1 until Kenneth Walker III returns from the oblique injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of the season opener. [Zach] Charbonnet handled the entire workload for Seattle’s backfield and delivered mixed results against New England. … Walker’s timetable for a return is unclear, which means the Seahawks might need to turn to Charbonnet again this week.
NFL.com: No. 19
A sign of good coaching is the ability to adjust, and the Seahawks’ staff has shown that skill in spades thus far. Seattle switched up a stagnant game plan at halftime of Week 1, and there were even more adjustments in Week 2’s dramatic victory. The deep shot to DK Metcalf was a welcome development, even if it came on a busted coverage. What’s kept the Seahawks mostly on schedule has been the steady, cool play of Geno Smith, who has come up big two weeks in a row.
Yahoo.com: No. 13
Nobody is engraving a trophy for beating the Broncos and Patriots to start the season, but plenty of talented teams would love to be 2-0. Don’t forget, the Seahawks are learning completely new schemes on offense and defense. They’ll get better as the season goes on.
CBS Sports: No. 7
New head coach Mike Macdonald is off to a 2-0 start. That wasn’t easy or pretty in beating the Pats in overtime, but that’s a good road victory.
Bleacher Report: No. 10
The Seahawks aren’t without issues on both sides of the ball. But two weeks into the season they are the NFC West’s lone undefeated team. [NFL analyst Gary] Davenport believes that merits some consideration.
Sports Illustrated: No. 19
The Patriots are looking more and more like a semi-quality opponent, so I don’t put this win in the same category as the Week 1 banana peel slipper against Denver. Geno Smith toward the end of this game was looking better than ever and the possibilities for this receiving corps between Jaxon Smith-Njigba and D.K. Metcalf is intriguing.
USA Today: No. 20
A fortuitous 2-0 start featured WRs DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Sunday becoming the first Seattle teammates to each have at least 10 catches for 100 yards in the same game.
The Sporting News: No. 15
The Seahawks maintained their road trip moxie with Mike Macdonald, as their defense traveled well to contain the Patriots in key situations and their offense adjusted from run-dominant to big pass-play fun.
