Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor registered one of his signature big hits, perhaps his biggest since joining the team following a 54-day holdout, when he rocked Lions receiver Calvin Johnson on Monday night at CenturyLink Field.
The Lions had the ball on third-and-23 at their 40-yard line when quarterback Matt Stafford threw a 6-yard pass to Johnson who was coming over the middle.
Chancellor met Johnson right after he caught the pass, lowering his shoulder into Johnson’s shoulder and snapping his neck back.
That forced the Lions to punt, and the Seahawks appeared to be in control with a 13-3 lead.
Update: Chancellor wound up with the play of the game, swatting the ball out of Johnson’s hands just before the Lions receiver crossed the goal line for a go-ahead touchdown. The ball went out of the back of the end zone for a touchback, giving Seattle the ball back and sealing the Seahawks’ 13-10 victory Monday.
