Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor provided the exclamation point to his return to the team following a 54-day holdout with a game-saving play in their 13-10 victory over the Detroit Lions on Monday night at CenturyLink Field.
With the Lions trailing 13-10 and driving for the go-ahead score in the final minutes, Chancellor forced Lions receiver Calvin Johnson to fumble before crossing the goal line. The ball went out of the end zone, and the ruling was a touchback that gave the ball back to the Seahawks.
The touchdown would have given the Lions the lead with under two minutes remaining. Instead, the Seahawks got the ball back and sealed the victory on “Monday Night Football.”
It wasn’t Chancellor’s only highlight-reel play of the night: His big hit on Johnson earlier in the quarter was a precursor of things to come.
