The Seahawks punctuated their eighth day of training camp with a scrimmage that lasted roughly 90 minutes or so.

In what is always the best news from these things, there were no apparent injuries.

The scrimmage ended with a 24-8 score, a victory for the No. 1 offense/defense against the backups.

Touchdowns were scored by Robert Turbin on a 1-yard pass from Russell Wilson, Luke Willson on an 8-yard pass from Wilson and Will Blackmon on a 100-yard interception return (of an R.J. Archer pass) for the first team, and a 2-yard-run by Christine Michael for the second team (with a Tarvaris Jackson run for a two-point conversion). Steven Hauschka also had about a 35-yard field goal.

There were four interceptions — Blackmon, Mohammed Seisay of a pass from Wilson intended for Jimmy Graham, Cary Williams (from Jackson) and Steven Terrell (from Archer).

Kasen Williams had one of the biggest days for a receiver with four catches, one of about 30 yards or so down the sideline when he got behind Cary Williams.

Doug Baldwin had the biggest gain of the day on a 47-yard catch and run of a pass from Wilson.

Graham had a couple of catches, one for about 16 yards over the middle to convert a third-and-eight. But he also lamented the out-and-up from Wilson that was intended for him and instead picked off by Seisay. The ball appeared underthrown but Graham also seemed to allude to not having the route right and said he and Wilson went back on the field to work on it for a while afterwards.

Drew Nowak got the first reps with the starting offense at center and afterward Pete Carroll said that Nowak is right in the mix for the starting center job with Lemuel Jeanpierre. The rest of the starting OL was the same as it has been — Russell Okung and Justin Britt at tackles and Alvin Bailey and J.R. Sweezy at guards.

Notable among the backup OL was that Terry Poole was again at right tackle and Mark Glowsinki was playing at left guard after previously having been on the right side. Poole’s move from guard to tackle is opening up room for Glowsinki to move over and maybe get into the competition at that spot where Bailey is in the lead to take over for the departed James Carpenter.

Also of note afterward is that Carroll said the right cornerback spot and nickel spot remain in competition and that he doesn’t want to just give the jobs to the presumed starters, Williams and Blackmon. He said Blackmon remains in the mix for the other corner spot and that Tharold Simon will get into that when he returns in a week or two, as well. And he said Marcus Burley remains in the running for the nickel spot.

As for Kam Chancellor, there’s nothing new there.

“I don’t know that we’re any closer,” Carroll said. “But I know that we are all working, working to stay connected. I know that he is staying connected to everything that we are doing. He is the ultimate competitor so he is not going to get very far away from us but there is still stuff to be talked out.”

Asked if he has talked to Chancellor recently he said “just messaging. It seems like it was three weeks ago but it was 4-5 days ago.”

Asked if he was surprised the holdout has lasted as long as it has, Carroll said no: “No, because he is very strong-minded. He has wanted to make a very clear statement, which he is doing.”

Carroll also said TE Cooper Helfet sat out today with “a little cracked rib” and that Obum Gwacham has a bad elbow.

He also said Earl Thomas is getting some regular work in walk-throughs but may still be a few weeks ago from getting back on the field in a full practice.
