On how the last week has been for him: “The last was has been amazing honestly. I’m truly blessed to have this opportunity to come out here and compete. This is a great team, great defense, great offense, just great all around, and you see that with the success the team has been having so far. I can only see the same repeating in the near future.”
On his impression on Coach Ken Norton, Jr: “Coach Norton is intense, especially to be a linebacker, the linebacker that he was, the man that he is, he needs to be that way to coach us, and you see it. I’ve heard that the linebacker core here is underrated and you see it in their play that they excel at the little things. The basics, running to the ball, making cuts, leading the defense, and he shows us how to be true linebackers.”

On how similar is the role that he’s playing here to the role he played at Boston College: “I played WILL linebacker my first three years at Boston College so it’s not too different. There are some habits that I have to change little bit and Coach Norton is helping me out with that. It’s been a little tough changing old habits, things that I have been doing for four years, but he’s showing us how to play football, he’s showing me how to play football and I’m just glad to have a mentor like him, him as well as the older guys who are helping me along this process.”
On what are some of his bad habits: “One of the habits for example is, instead of dropping back on the angles, shoulders being square; those are things I need to change. Breaking on intention, just anticipating the play a whole lot faster and a whole lot better, and I’m learning as the day goes on. It’s a whole learning process, and I’m just glad I get the chance to learn from him.”
On if he wore a tie during his scouting combine interview: “I definitely am a suit and tie type of guy. I say I just have to represent my family well, as well as Boston College. I was fortunate enough to get my degree there in marketing, and I just like to represent myself well, represent the people that support me as well as represent any organization that would pick me up, and now I’m representing the Seahawks.”
On if he has talked to Luke Kuechly, a former teammate at Boston College: “Luke has just been congratulatory of my success so far. We told each other hopefully we see each other on the field sometime soon, but he’s just a competitor/ he told me to keep doing what I’ve been doing for so long. He’s seen me from the first day that I stepped on the Boston College campus so he said just don’t change anything about me. Told me to stay hungry, stay humble and keep pressing on.”
On if he has had any welcome to the NFL moment: “I would say my welcome to the NFL moment was probably the first day that I got out here. I’m a guy who loves to run and has a lot of energy, but I was humbled real quick with Coach Norton and his intensity. He had me in what we call the chute for quite some time, but I’m a rookie and it comes with the territory. He’s going to train me hard and I just have faith in him that I’m going to be a better football player at the end of this.”
On if there is any intimidation factor: “Oh no there is no intimidation factor. He’s intense, and football is an intense game. you really can’t play scared, and I’m just hoping that I could pick up some of that intensity that he brings on to the field every day, and it’s my goal to mirror that.”
On the range he has in his game: “I show a lot of versatility, a lot of range, and that was one of the attributes that was appealing for the Seahawks to get me, and I’m just here to show them that I still have that. I’m focusing a tremendous amount on special teams to show my range there, showing my range on defense as well, and once again I’m still learning. I’ve come some ways, but I have a long ways to go. I’m just blessed to have the coaching staff around me to show me the ropes.”
On the process of getting to know some of the veterans and some of the guys that are on the team currently: “It’s been amazing honestly. Meeting them was one of my surprises. I came here thinking that I’m a rookie so the vets aren’t really going to respect you too much, but honestly it’s a family here. Everyone is just trying to make everyone better, the older guys are taking me under their wings and showing me their ropes, and it’s just been amazing that they have that type of fluidity within the core, within the team, and I’m just glad to be here. I couldn’t have been in a better place.”
On if they have mentioned the Super Bowl much: “There hasn’t been any mention of the Super Bowl, that is in the past. Coach Carroll is all about today, what can you do today? Yesterday was yesterday was yesterday, even though we had a great practice yesterday, today is today. This team is just about pressing forward. The past was the past, that was great, but now it’s time to keep progressing. He keeps saying have the best offseason that anyone has ever had, and we want to make each other better, make ourselves better, and just keep striving to be great.”
