The Seahawks on Tuesday waived defensive tackle Jesse Williams while it was also revealed they have tendered cornerback Marcus Burley, keeping him in the fold for the 2016 season.

The Seahawks have made two more personnel moves as the free agency period approaches on Wednesday, waiving defensive tackle Jesse Williams and also tendering exclusive rights free agent cornerback Marcus Burley.

Williams was a fifth-round pick in 2013 but never played a game for the Seahawks in the regular season. He missed the 2013 and 2014 seasons with knee injuries that required surgery. Last May he was then diagnosed with Papillary Type 2 cancer and had surgery to remove a kidney. Williams recovered from that to play in the pre-season but was then waived and placed on the non-football illness list for the rest of the season.

Williams was an exclusive rights free agent and the Seahawks had to tender him by the beginning of the new league year at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The move makes Williams a free agent.

The Seahawks also tendered Burley at the minimum level for a two-year veteran, $600,000.

The moves mean all of the Seahawks exclusive free agents are now accounted for.

It was reported over the weekend that Seattle had tendered TE Cooper Helfet, CB DeShawn Shead, DL A.J. Francis, DB Steven Terrell, LB Eric Pinkins and CB Mohammed Seisay (Francis signed his tender on Tuesday.) So-called ERFAs are bound to the team once given a tender.

Burley finished his second season with the team last year playing in 12 games and starting one, used primarily as a nickel back (he missed four games with a broken thumb).

Burley will return to what is a deep corps of cornerbacks along with Shead, Seisay, Tharold Simon and Tye Smith along with Richard Sherman. The Seahawks, though, could lose Jeremy Lane in free agency.

Seattle also has three unrestricted free agents who do not yet have reported qualifying offer from the team — RB Christine Michael, OL Alvin Bailey, FB Derrick Coleman and LB Nick Moody. They will become free agents if not given offers by 1 p.m. Wednesday.
