The U.S. men's national soccer team, in Seattle for the Copa America, stopped by Seahawks minicamp practice in Renton.
The United States men’s soccer team is in town for a Copa America against Ecuador Thursday night.
Members of the team, and coach Jurgen Klinsmann visited the VMAC Tuesday, some spending a little time with Seahawks players afterward.
Coach Pete Carroll said he will attend the game Thursday.
“Yeah, I am looking forward to it,” he said. “I have followed Coach Klinsmann for a long time and we’ve gotten together over the years, back when we were at SC, and it has been really fun for me to follow his coaching and his style and all of that. It is going to be great. They are going against Ecuador to see if they can move on. I am fired up.”

Players such as Russell Wilson exchanged jerseys with some of the players (Wilson exchanged his with Jermaine Jones) causing Carroll to say “they are having fun like little kids out here. They are wanting to play catch and throw the ball. You see our guys want to kick the soccer ball and they want to play catch with the football so they are figuring it out.”
Carroll also said he appreciates such visits to soak in all the knowledge he can from other coaches.
“It is valuable to see just all perspectives and just take what you can out of the conversations,” he said. “I particularly like talking with guys, I like coaches wherever they come from. I always welcome them in and look forward to learning, not just telling them what we do, I want to know stuff. There is so much about players, handling situations and media issues and all the stuff that falls among really is the same and we are always looking to exchange it.”
