Mariners closer Fernando Rodney was selected to the All-Star team and led baseball in saves last season, converting 48 in 51 tries during his first year with the Mariners. He may not have made things easy, as his flair for the dramatic drove Mariners fans crazy at times, but he managed results nonetheless.
This year, however, has been a different story — at least thus far. In four appearances this season, Rodney has blown two ninth-inning leads, giving up six runs and seven hits in just 3.1 innings pitched. Yes, it is still early, but are you concerned with Rodney’s early-season struggles?
