The Seattle Mountaineers and the National Athletic Basketball League announced Tuesday they are parting ways immediately, despite a Sunday game scheduled against Snohomish County.

The Mountaineers said in a news release they are joining the American Basketball Association. The ABA season starts in November.

Seattle players can be picked up by any other NABL team, the league said.

“The NABL was not a good fit for our organization, and we need to go in another direction,” Mountaineers coach and president Don Sims said.

Sunday’s game against the Snohomish County Explosion will continue with another NABL team from the region.
