Fans at Safeco Field over the weekend offered their two cents about the recent punishments issued to the New England Patriots and their star quarterback Tom Brady, in light of “DeflateGate” allegations.
With the Mariners trailing Boston during Saturday’s turn-back-the-clock game, Seattle fans took a trip back in time themselves to seemingly blow off some pent-up Super Bowl steam by chanting “Brady cheated,” over and over.
While the chant was a not-so-subtle jab at the many Boston fans lining the stands of Safeco Field, it surely didn’t come close to the sting of the NFL’s recent punishments handed down by commissioner Roger Goodell last week, which will bench Brady for the first four weeks of the 2015 season.
Chants be damned, Seattle fans still came up empty-handed as the Mariners ended up losing the game, just as they did in Super Bowl XLIX. But hey, you can’t blame them for channeling that frustration into creative jousting.
