SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento River Cats had 12 runs on 14 hits to beat the Tacoma Rainiers 12-4 last night in a Pacific Coast League game.
The middle of the Sacramento lineup (Bobby Smith, Dan Johnson and Jack Cust) did most of the damage, going 6 for 11 with seven runs scored and four runs batted in. Every hitter in the Cats’ lineup had at least one hit.
For the Rainiers, designated hitter Abraham Nunez was 2 for 4 with two runs scored. First baseman Aaron Rifkin had two RBI.
Jimmy Serrano picked up the win in his first start of the season for the River Cats, allowing just two runs in five innings.
The Rainiers and River Cats meet again today with Tacoma RHP Jorge Campillo facing LHP John Rheinecker.
