In case you missed it:
- Once again, the Mariners got out to an early lead. Nelson Cruz, who accounted for all the Mariners offense, made it 2-0 in the first with the first of two home runs.
- But then came Mike Hauschild, the pitcher the Blue Jays just signed out of the Astros’ minor-league system, who blanked Seattle for six innings.
- Felix Hernandez gave the M’s a chance to win and may have preserved his rotation spot for now, allowing two runs over five innings. But Juan Nicasio served up go-ahead homer to Kendrys Morales in the seventh, and the M’s couldn’t come back.
- The loss was Seattle’s third in a row and dropped it out of a playoff spot for the first time since May 17, falling a half game back of the A’s, who were off Thursday.
