*** Felix Hernandez underwent another MRI on his strained right calf on Thursday, and said the leg was feeling better, but there was still inflammation that must be removed. Hernandez still has yet to be cleared for any activity other than throwing from a chair. He admitted that coming back to soon would be impossible since the injury is on his push leg off the pitching rubber and that his unique mechanics, which includes a big rotation of his hips, would place pressure on the injured area.
*** The Mariners completed their May 29 trade in which they reacquired infielder Patrick Kivlehan. The team sent right-handed pitcher Justin De Fratus to the Texas Rangers as the player to be named later to complete the deal.
De Fratus, 28, was signed by the Mariners in the offseason. He made 19 appearances with Class AAA Taocma, posting a 2-2 record with a 3.21 ERA.
