CALGARY, Alberta — Michael Stone’s power-play goal broke a 1-1 tie midway through the final period, giving the Calgary Hitmen a 2-1 win over the road-challenged Seattle Thunderbirds in Western Hockey League play Sunday.

Stone one-timed a cross-ice pass past Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard. Despite Pickard’s 33 saves, the Thunderbirds (3-9-1) dropped the opening game of their six-game trip and fell to 0-5 on the road.

Prab Rai scored Seattle’s goal, his fifth.
