Renton High star quarterback Drew Olson will lead the West squad in the 22nd annual East-West Earl Barden All-Star Classic. The game will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. in Moxee.

The matchup highlights Washington’s top Class 2A/A/B players. The teams are selected in January via nominations from coaches in each league in the state.

Barden, a noted businessman in the Yakima area, originated the game in 1995. When he died in 1999, the community continued the Classic. The Washington State Coaches Association now helps operate the event.

Olson will be joined by King’s High two-way player Edmund Sundquist on the West roster. Sundquist fought through injuries to be part of the Knights’ run to finish second at the Class 1A state football championship last winter.

The West will be coached by Squalicum’s Nick Lucey. East Valley High coach Mark Mochel will lead the East all-stars.
