The Tahoma Bears, who finished fifth in last year’s Class 4A state tournament, were ranked No. 1 in the first Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association rankings of the season, released Monday.

Kentridge (fifth) and Kenedy Catholic (ninth) were the only other King County schools in the Class 4A top 10. Lake Stevens was ranked second. Auburn Riverside, which won the last two Class 4A state titles, was unranked.

Bellevue (fourth) and Mercer Island (ninth) were the only King County schools ranked in Class 3A. Liberty was eighth in Class 2A and King’s was third in Class 1A.
