A thrilling boys soccer season that crowned Interlake High the Class 3A state champions also earned some of its players All-State honors.

The Washington State Soccer Coaches Association announced Tuesday its 2016 All-State teams. Interlake’s Dan Peterson was named the Class 3A Coach of the Year while Saints senior forward Austin Ball was tabbed All-State first team.

Interlake defeated Mercer Island 1-0 to win its second consecutive state title. Islanders defender Hunter Bauman, a sophomore, was also named to the 3A first team.

Glacier Peak star Connor Seed was selected the Class 3A All-State Most Valuable Player while teammate Sahm Noorfashan, a senior goalkeeper, was a first team selection. They helped lead the Grizzlies to a Western Conference 3A title.

“This type of recognition isn’t why these guys play the game, but it sure is nice to see them get credit for the work they put in every day,” Hazen coach Ken Matthews said in a release. His top defender, senior Hector Cervantes, was named to the first team.

The Class 4A All-State first team is highlighted by Woodinville senior midfielder Miles Sanchez, Kentwood sophomore midfielder Manav Gill, Skyline senior defender Grant Holland and Snohomish senior defender Eric Jones.

Archbishop Murphy won the Class 2A state title, easily solidifying junior forward Matt Williams with the MVP nod. He was joined on the first team by teammates Parker Buchanan, a senior midfielder, junior defender Ryan Henderson and goalie Daniel Mycroft.

Seattle Academy coach Todd Wallenius is the Class 1A Coach of the Year. He led the Cardinal to a state title in his third season at the helm.

King’s junior defender Lars Helleren and University Prep junior midfielder Jackson Ragen were named to the Class 1A All-State first team.
