Today is Kasey Kahne Day in Enumclaw.

The city plans to honor one of its favorite sons with an all-day celebration that includes 5-kilometer and 9-kilometer runs, live entertainment, food, a classic-car show that features Kahne’s No. 9 Dodge and a street dedication.

Kahne was the 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series rookie of the year, and won the Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Raceway in Virginia on May 14.

He finished sixth of 43 in yesterday’s Sony HD 500 in Fontana, Calif.

At noon today, behind the Enumclaw Area Chamber of Commerce at 1421 Cole St., Kahne will be given the key to the city and honored with a street dedication.

At 12:30 p.m., he will answer questions from fans. He will have an autograph-signing session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Topping Chrysler Jeep Dodge on Highway 410 in Enumclaw.
