This family-friendly festival starts off with a parade and includes a car show in addition to the street party, food games and music. Check it out if you want to experience an event celebrating the diverse community of SE Seattle.
The Othello Park International Music and Arts Festival
Sun., Aug. 13, noon-6 p.m.
Come for the incredible lineup of diverse talent in the entertainment of this festival, from capoeira to Bollywood dancing, community drummers and DJs. Of course you can always explore the vendors, food, or “creation stations” where you can create art of your own led by a local artist. But don’t miss the petting zoo – where there will be a real, live camel!
Chief Seattle Days
Thu., Aug. 17-Sun., Aug. 20
Head on over to Suquamish to honor Chief Seattle, for whom the City of Seattle is named, with this three-day festival that’s been going on since 1911. Help celebrate the leader of the Suquamish people with a parade, traditional salmon bake, powwow, canoe race, 5K run, drumming, dancing and plenty of food.
Snoqualmie Railroad Days
Fri., Aug. 18-Sun., Aug. 20
Get to know the historic town of Snoqualmie at the 79th annual Snoqualmie Railroad Days, an annual community festival celebrating the logging and railroad town as well as the home of the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe. Take tours of the nearby Northwest Railway Museum or a train excursion that will take you up to the top of Snoqualmie Falls, or enjoy the parade, musical entertainment or demonstrations of timber sports. You’ll also find a pancake breakfast, classic car show and artists displaying their wares.
CHOMP!

If you’re looking for a different kind of County Fair, CHOMP! At Marymoor Park may be the place for you. Part of King County Executive Dow Constantine’s Local Food Initiative, the event aims to celebrate local farmers, chefs and restaurants using locally sourced food and organizations supporting healthy food, sustainability and social justice. Enjoy a day of local food, live music, green living workshops, a Tiny Home Town and even a farmers market.
Fresh Paint: Festival of Artists at Work
Sat., Aug. 19-Sun., Aug. 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Everett’s Schack Art Center puts on this unique way to spend a day on the Everett Marina. Walk the length of the promenade to see artists working right on their easels, blowing glass, making jewelry or throwing pottery. Every artist demonstrates their art while also having some for sale – of course there’s also live music, food and a beer garden.
Olympic Music Festival, From Beethoven & Twilight in Paris
Sat., Aug. 19 and Sun., Aug. 20, 2 p.m.
The summer season of the Olympic Music Festival features several opportunities to enjoy classical music in Port Townsend. On one day of this weekend, enjoy a showcase of the talented Olympic Chamber Music Fellows playing Beethoven as well as some of the composers he influenced. Then on the other day, the focus shifts to Twilight in Paris, which will explore French composers like Débussy and Ravel who helped define musical impressionism. After the performances, stay for an interactive question-and-answer session with the artists.
Thu., Aug. 24-Mon., Sept. 4
If it’s a traditional state fair you’re itching for, you’ll definitely find what you’re looking for at The Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. Visit the award-winning farm animals, crafts and baked goods, take in a rodeo, lumberjack show or concert, and of course get your fill of fried fair food before jumping on one of the carnival rides.
