The focus of a new Yakama tribal jail in Toppenish is rehabilitation.

It includes classrooms where inmates can study.

Chief of Corrections Gene Fenton told KIMA ( http://is.gd/NFpZJz) it will also hold juvenile offenders who previously have been sent to Spokane.

The Yakama Nation is hiring 24 corrections officers to run the jail.

A Justice Department grant paid for the $15 million jail, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs covers daily operations.
