After being pulled over, she said it wasn't the first time she had tried the maneuver.

A woman was cited after being found breast-feeding her 1-year-old boy while driving northbound on Interstate 5 in Everett Wednesday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 44-year-old from Mountlake Terrace was pulled over around 7 p.m. after someone called 911 to report a child sitting in the lap of a driver, Trooper Mark Francis said.

The responding trooper saw the woman breast-feeding when he walked up to her car, Francis said. He added she admitted to breast-feeding while driving because the boy screams uncontrollably when he’s hungry, and that she had done it before.

“Needless to say, they had a long conversation about safety …,” Francis said.

The woman was cited for a child-restraint violation. Francis said the child was properly strapped into a car seat when she drove away.
