Nancy J. Biladeau, 47, of Bellevue, has been identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as the woman killed Thursday night  when she was run over by a Metro bus she’d just gotten off of.

Police said they are still not sure what happened, but that the  investigation into her death is ongoing.

Biladeau, a regular on the Metro route, got off the bus at her usual stop in East Bellevue at Northeast 10th Street and Northup Way after saying good-bye to the driver and several other passengers, police said.

The bus driver began to drive away when he heard a noise, stopped, and found Biladeau in the road, said Bellevue Police Department spokeswoman Carla Iafrate.  He and some passengers called 911 shortly after 6:30 p.m., Iafrate said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the incident, which has been ruled an accident by the Medical Examiner’s Office. However, the bus driver has undergone drug and alcohol screening in accordance with Metro protocol, Iafrate said.

Another woman, who was hit by a Metro bus in Seattle on Thursday morning, was listed in serious condition on in the Intensive Care Unit at Harborview Medical Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The woman was injured when she stepped off the curb on Third Avenue at Pine Street in downtown Seattle and was struck by the bus around 8:30 a.m.

Seattle police said the bus driver had the green light and the right of way.
