Seattle missed the luck of the Irish this year as the forecast calls for rain during the 54th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

A system rolling in from the Pacific Ocean will sweep the metropolitan area through this coming Friday, bringing rainy conditions, National Weather Service Meteorologist Samantha Borth said. Saturday and Sunday are expected to see temperatures in the upper 40s.

“It’ll be pretty breezy, at least (Saturday) morning,” Borth said. “We’ve got some breezy conditions out there. However, that’s going to peak over the next couple hours, and then the wind should ease by (the) afternoon into (Saturday) evening.”

Snow is dumping on the Cascade passes

But the rain will not ruin the Irish parade.

This year’s parade down Fourth Avenue starts at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Afterward, attendees can attend an Irish Festival at the Seattle Center Armory Food & Event Hall. The free event will honor Irish heritage through food, dance and music.

So while the rain may pour: Keep calm and leprechaun.
