While scattered snowflakes were spotted throughout the Seattle area Tuesday morning, most of the snow the Puget Sound region will see this week has already fallen, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures remained in the 30s on Tuesday, with a high of 35 degrees, meteorologist Jeff Michalski said. Flurries in the region tapered off Tuesday morning, but there will be another chance for some snowflakes Wednesday night.
“We’re not looking at significant accumulations with that either,” Michalski said.
Record-breaking cold temperatures are possible in some areas Tuesday evening into Wednesday.
This is where we could see some record-breaking temps — the daily temperature record for Feb. 22 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is 24 degrees, set in 2018. The forecast low Tuesday is 22.
Temperatures in Seattle expected to drop as low as 21 degrees Wednesday — which could set a new low-temperature record at the airport for Feb. 23 — and Tacoma and Olympia to the upper teens, according to meteorologist Maddie Kristell.
Lows in Seattle will remain in the mid-20s to 30 degrees this week until it begins to warm up Saturday. For commuters, black ice is possible on roads and other surfaces. Drivers should exercise caution, especially on bridges and overpasses.
