Forecasters say Friday’s weather will kick off a three-day stretch of highs in the 80s and possibly 90s in the Seattle area and southward.
The next few days could be some of Western Washington’s hottest all year.
Forecasters say Friday’s weather will kick off a three-day stretch of summerlike heat and clear, sunny skies.
They expect the highest temperatures on Sunday for Seattle and areas southward, predicting highs that range in the upper 80s and possibly 90s.
“Make sure that you’re hydrated,” said Johnny Burg, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. “Friday will be mostly sunny, and that’s when we’ll see it warm up into the weekend.”

Sunday’s forecast high of 91 degrees at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport could be the highest so far in 2016, meteorologists said.
Temperatures there are expected to reach 77 degrees on Friday and 83 degrees Saturday.
The warmth will last into Monday, though marine air early next week is expected to cool things down, Burg said.
For areas farther south, the weather service in Portland has issued an “excessive heat watch” for Saturday morning through Sunday evening, saying the days will likely break record-high temperatures in the upper 90s and potentially top 100 degrees.
The weekend’s forecast comes after April and May clocked in as Seattle’s warmest on record, according to the service.
Going into the weekend, meteorologists are urging people to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related problems.
Drink fluids, perhaps find a cool place during the day’s peaking temperatures, and do not leave children and pets in hot vehicles, they said.
Weather experts also urge safety around water.
“People might think about going into the lake and jumping right in,” Burg said, but a person’s body could go into shock due to the cold-water temperatures, and that can lead to drowning.
