Cutbacks in some parts of the Washington state prison system are sending more inmates to the Washington state Penitentiary at Walla Walla.

The prison is updating a building to prepare for the arrival of 250 minimum-security inmates by July. Another 500 men are expected in the next year.

KEPR reports ( http://is.gd/sS9VG8) the prison also is adding nearly 40 jobs this summer and 100 more within the next year.
