Sketched July 13, 2016

The old waterfront streetcar stop at Occidental Park still serves a purpose: It makes for picturesque sketching and slows down traffic. It’s also a reminder of the failed attempts to incorporate the old line, in service between 1982 and 2005, into the redesign of the Seattle waterfront.

On the bright side, not all the vintage green cars were sold to St. Louis last month. Two remain in storage, and the Friends of the Benson Trolleys group plans to launch a campaign to retrofit them for the future First Avenue line.

How would you like that?
