At least two people were shot along Rainier Avenue South in Seattle about 1:30 p.m. this afternoon when people in one vehicle shot at people in another vehicle, according to Seattle police.

The shooter or shooters are still on the loose. Police say the suspect vehicle is a gray GMC Yukon or Chevy Suburban with a red stripe on the side. It was seen heading north from the 800 block of Rainier Avenue South where the shooting occurred.

Four people in a vehicle were stopped by police at Fourth Avenue and Yesler Street a short time after the shooting, but after they were identified, they were released.

The two gunshot victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center. Relatives of one victim were told by hospital officials at the hospital this afternoon that neither shooting victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

A witness to the shooting, a 46-year-old Renton man on his lunch break, was about to turn left from South Dearborn Street onto Rainier Avenue South when he heard a loud bang seconds before the vehicle behind him lightly tapped his bumper.

“I knew it was a gunshot ,” he said. The man declined to give his name.

Though fearing for his safety, he got out of his car and saw the occupants of the vehicle behind him get out. Two men and a woman, he said.

One of the men was clutching his bleeding hand and the woman was clutching her side, saying “Oh my God.” and “I don’t believe it.”

The driver of the vehicle yelled at the Renton man to move, saying he was taking his friends to the hospital.

The Renton man drove around the block and the victims were gone by the time he returned.

The witness said he did not see the shooting suspects or their vehicle.
