PROSSER, Tri-Cities — Jackie Mincey and Florentino Martinez are friendly competitors.
She delivers the Tri-City Herald and he delivers Yakima Herald-Republic, and their paths often cross on their routes in the Yakima Valley.
They usually wave. On Saturday morning, she saved his life.
Martinez, who lost a leg to diabetes, became stuck in the snow. Mincey got out of her car to give him a push. But as he spun his wheels, his van caught fire. She tried using her hands to push snow on the fire, but it spread.
