The southbound lanes of the Alaskan Way Viaduct along Highway 99 were reopened Saturday night after crews completed routine inspections ahead of schedule, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Both directions of the viaduct were scheduled to be closed for the entire weekend.

Northbound lanes between South Spokane Street and the Battery Street Tunnel, where crews are doing work related to the future Highway 99 tunnel, are expected to remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday.
