Rain on Tuesday morning contributed to several accidents, snarling traffic throughout the Seattle area, according to the Department of Transportation.

Highways throughout the area continue to be slow and commuters should allow extra time this morning.

An accident on Fauntleroy Way at 35th Avenue Southwest is still causing heavy delays heading out of West Seattle.

If you’re headed over the mountains, Snoqualmie and Stevens passes both report snow. The roadway is bare and wet on Snoqualmie and no restrictions are in place. Traction tires are advised on Stevens Pass because of snow and slush on the road.

Showers are expected to continue in the Puget Sound area throughout the day with a high around 55, according to the National Weather Service forecast. More rain is expected Wednesday, but skies should clear a bit Thursday with a high in the upper 60s.
