Three lanes of southbound Interstate 5 at South Spokane Street in Seattle reopened Wednesday evening after a semi collision resulted in an 8-mile backup, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The HOV lane was open to all vehicles because of the crash, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. The collision was cleared around 7:30 p.m.
WSDOT advised drivers to wait for stalled vehicles in the backup as it slowly clears out.
Two miles north, a collision on southbound I-5 at I-90 had been blocking the left lane, according to WSDOT. That also was cleared.
