Drivers of Interstate 5 should beware of lane and ramp closures this week due to construction projects in Marysville and Federal Way.

Marysville

All southbound lanes of I-5 will close at 116th Street Northeast, beginning gradually at 7 p.m. Monday, with all lanes closed by 1 a.m. Tuesday. Two northbound lanes will also close.

During the shutdown, a tall crane that is now in the median will be moved across the freeway. This is part of a major Tulalip Tribes interchange expansion, to improve traffic flow to the Tulalip outlet shopping center and casino.

All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m., and all northbound lanes by 9 a.m.

Southbound drivers can detour by taking an exit from the existing 116th Street interchange, then re-entering on the far side of the overpass.

Federal Way

As many as three northbound lanes will close for one mile Tuesday and Wednesday nights, from South 320th Street to Military Road South. The closures begin gradually, with the first lane shutdown at 7 p.m. each night, and all lanes reopened by 4:30 a.m.

The pavement of I-5 will be grinded and grooved over Miltary Road.

Adjoining ramps at South 320th Street to northbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. The South 317th Street carpool ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
