One person is dead in a multivehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Fife on Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The person in 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan was driving southbound when they hit a 2004 Volvo V70 that was sitting on the right shoulder just north of 70th Avenue East. A semitruck then hit the Mercedes-Benz, whose driver died, the State Patrol said.
The semitruck driver was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Volvo was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Trooper John Dattilo posted on X.
The crash blocked lanes of southbound I-5 in Fife for more than five hours, the State Patrol said.
The lanes have reopened, the state Department of Transportation posted on X at 9:28 a.m.
